These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MatchMeAMovie (the "Service"), on the website and in the MatchMeAMovie TV app. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
By accessing or using MatchMeAMovie, you confirm that you can form a binding contract, that you accept these Terms, and that you agree to comply with them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older if the law where you live requires it. The Service is not directed at children under 13.
MatchMeAMovie helps you discover films and shows by learning your taste through ratings, calibration and browsing. We bring together publicly available title information and where-to-watch details from third-party sources to make recommendations. We don't host, stream or sell any films, shows or video content ourselves.
We also score how well each streaming service fits your taste (your MatchMe score), and Ask Mac, our help chat, can suggest services and help you use the site. It may use AI to answer questions you type. Mac's answers and suggestions are a guide only: check a service's own price and terms before you sign up.
The MatchMeAMovie TV app (for Fire TV and Google TV) shows your recommendations on your television. When you choose to watch something, it opens the streaming service's own app on your TV. You need your own subscription or account with that service; MatchMeAMovie doesn't provide access to any streaming service, and isn't responsible for those apps or whether a title plays.
You need an account to use most features of the Service. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account. Let us know right away if you suspect someone else has used it.
You can sign up with an email and password, or sign in with Google or Amazon. If you use Google or Amazon sign-in, their own terms and privacy policies also apply.
If you link your account with someone else's (for watching together or Movie Night), they will see things you share there - for example your picks, your rankings once revealed, and the films you've both seen. Only link with people you're happy to share that with. You can unlink at any time in Preferences.
If you ask us to, we'll send notifications or emails - for example when a title you're waiting for arrives on your services, or Movie Night reminders. You can change or switch these off at any time in Preferences.
When using the Service, you agree not to:
Film and show information, posters and images come from The Movie Database (TMDB). Where-to-watch information and rent or buy prices come from JustWatch, streaming service prices from our own regular checks of each service, and the TV app's links into streaming apps from Watchmode. We don't control these sources and can't guarantee their information is complete or current - availability and prices change often.
Links to streaming services and stores take you outside the Service, where their own terms apply. Some links are sponsored: links to rent or buy a title, to watch a title on a streaming service, and to sign up to a service, including those in the streaming service ads on For You (marked Ad). We may receive a payment if you use them. It never costs you more, and it never changes your matches or your MatchMe scores.
The MatchMeAMovie name, design and recommendation technology belong to us. Film and show titles, posters and related content remain the property of their respective owners and are used under the terms of our data sources. Streaming service names are the trademarks of their owners; MatchMeAMovie is not affiliated with or endorsed by any streaming service.
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that recommendations will always match your taste, that where-to-watch information is fully accurate or current, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatchMeAMovie is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on where-to-watch information or recommendations.
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account yourself on the Delete account page (also linked from Preferences). Deleting your account removes your profile, ratings and preferences. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post a notice on the site if we make significant changes. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
